Abstract

In the article, the author presents an analysis of the concept of giftedness in the research of domestic and foreign scientists and comes to the conclusion that there is still no single universal definition of this concept. In the course of conceptualizing the problems of giftedness, he notes the need to study individual signs of giftedness (reflection, dominant cognitive motivation, creative activity, methods of adaptation to a new environment, etc.). It was found that a gifted personality is characterized by unevenness, one-sidedness of development, which not only remains throughout life, but also deepens, sometimes causing certain mental problems. In this regard, a person with signs of giftedness may be exposed to various risks during his life: in communication with peers, in attitude to an educational institution, discrepancy between physical, intellectual and social development, etc. Thus, the author draws the attention of scientists to the problem of supporting the process of socialization of gifted student youth in modern society. The possibilities of Internet technologies as an innovative model of support and accompaniment of the process of socialization of gifted students are analyzed. The author attaches great importance to the training of specialists in working with gifted students, noting that this is a complex, dynamic and continuous process. Such specialists must have a number of personal qualities, namely: empathy, tolerance, knowledge of the needs and interests of gifted students, their social and psychological characteristics; high level of intellectual development of specialists; a wide range of personal interests; personal maturity, emotional stability and flexibility, as well as special post-graduate training or internship for working with gifted students and readiness for continuous self-improvement.
Due to the multifaceted nature of the phenomenon of giftedness, a number of problems also arise regarding the forms and methods of working with this category of persons in the conditions of an educational institution.
