Application of Infographics as a Means of Intensification of Research Activities of Gifted Students

The article discusses the use of infographics in educational process. It is justified that the infographics
usage as innovational way of intensification of scientific and investigational activity of gifted children is
very relevant. The historical aspects and stages of infographic’s development are considered. The notion of
infographics is analyzed, and it is emphasized that bringing information in form of images, pictures, diagrams,
tables, schemes and graphics increases much motivation of gifted children before their learning, it develops
their cognitive activity, self-sufficiency, curiosity, visual and figurative thinking, perception, creativity, aesthetic
taste, worldview, it develops their abilities and skills of scientific research, scientific monitoring and scientific
conclusions.
The main types of infographics are discussed. It is indicated that apart from the type of infographics
that is used, it is necessary to follow the basic rules of its creation: the simplicity and brevity, imagery and
visualization, information accuracy and organization, aesthetical attractiveness.
The advantages and disadvantages of the most popular Internet services as Infogram, Easelly, Piktochart,
Snappa, Canva are analyzed.
The opportunities of infographics and peculiarities of its usage in scientific and investigational activity
of gifted students are described. It is emphasized that such principles of infographics as brevity, creativity,
information visualization, clarity, relevance, accessibility make possible its effective usage in scientific
and investigational activity of gifted children. Using infographics, young investigators have wide range of
possibilities to find and analyze different information on their own, to provide the results of their scientific and
investigational work fully and aesthetically attractively; all this demonstrates the feasibility of its usage in the
educational sphere and in gifted children’s development.
