Публікацію присвячено розкриттю ідейно-філософських основ пенітенціарної педагогіки, розгортання хвилі якої на межі ХХ–ХХІ ст. зумовлено трендом перегляду пенітенціарної ідеї у вітчизняній науці відповідно до вектора інтеграції в європейський соціальний простір і запиту на конструювання посттоталітарної світоглядної парадигми розуміння феномена покарання. Актуальність дослідження полягає в тому, що фахівці-практики, виконуючи завдання з перевиховання та ресоціалізації осіб, які відбувають покарання в установах кримінально-виконавчої системи та центрах пробації, мають розумітися на світоглядно-філософському підґрунті вказаних процесів і усвідомлювати закладені в них ідеї задля досягнення соціально бажаного результату – повернення людини в соціальний простір із подальшим соціально прийнятним її співіснуванням.
